On This Merry Christmas...

Greetings,

First off - it's nearly Christmas. Merry Christmas to all of you when it comes.

Second off - I am completely re-drafting my songs. Don't worry, it's obviously for the better. There are a few trips here and there, some riffs that could be improved and some drum tracks that could be recorded better, and I plan to fix all of these on a super chrome tape (SU-PER CHROOOME!). This should mean better quality, better recordings and overall, better music.

Well, later and merry Christmas,

Possible Heel Recordings to be used or GCSE Performance.

Greetings once again,

It seems I have a bit of a problem in terms of having a song to perform for a GCSE performance. I was going to choose Tool's "
Schism" (brilliant song and an amazing band, by the way) and I had perfected the guitar track for the song perfectly. I could honestly do it blindfold. But I am having trouble finding the backing track without any guitars at all, and I very much doubt I will be allowed to use the actual CD track for this performance. So therefore I have a choice. I can either bring my four track in and perform my own song WITHOUT the guitar parts (seeing as though I can adjust the volume on the guitar tracks), or I can try and play Schism with the real CD recording (which includes the guiar track).

Anyway, I'll try and get back to you on this, and hopefully I can post up the live recording if I am allowed to use my own song.

Later,
Mike,

New Demo Recording - Third on EP list.

Greetings,

Another Sunday, and yet another recording finished. This time it took me three whole attempts to perfect it.

Three.

Three mother fucking recordings, a total of twenty fuck-ups in the process. Holy Christ. That's a record. But the outcome has proved to be anything but disappointing, in fact this may be one of the best recordings I've done in quite a while so maybe three is indeed the lucky number. I will put up this recording on the home page (idiom.co.nr) and on the upcoming Idiom Myspace page, and just to let you know, this is the third track on the Heel EP track list.

Thank you and later from me,
Mike, Idiom.

Good news on first demo releases

Greetings once again,

I am pleased to announce that the first demo recording for the Heel EP got incredibly good reception from fellow colleagues, including my own music teacher who took an particularly good, if not great reception to it. No word has been confirmed if I can produce the EP using the music department's recording resources, but I have considered sending tapes to various record companies, with a keen eye on Roadrunner Records. Again, nothing has been thought thoroughly.

By the way, just so nobody gets any unpleasant shocks when they manage to listen to this demo, I recorded it on an analogue four track recording studio with a machine drumkit, a Marshall test amplifier and no vocals (I cannot sing). But the music counts more in my opinion, and I hope you understand these circumstances when you come to listen to this recording in due course.

Mike, Idiom.

EP Named

I have managed to give my EP some thought over the past few months, and in finally finishing and perfecting the track list I have managed to make a name for it. It's title is now Heel.

Why
Heel? Well the idea spawned to me when I saw the stock image (which I do not own by the way, it belongs to its respective owner, whoever it may be) of Jesus flipping the bird, as you can see in the slideshow above. "Heel" is a reference to a wrestling term for when someone turns bad and therefore provokes a negative reaction from the crowd, and the image of Jesus giving the bird gave me that thought, contradicting how he is usually represented as a peaceful and loving character. In addition, Heel is a pun on the verb to heal, which again is a reference to how Jesus supposedly loved and cured people.

Just a small note here, I am not religious in any way. Completely scientific.

Anyway, I will give more information in due course but for now just enjoy my artwork, I will have a few demos up soon.

Later,
Mike,
Idiom.

EP is Officially Underway

Yup, my first EP is going through the draft processes in terms of recording and I have now completed one full recording for one song, which is going to be the second on the track list. No name has been confirmed for the track or for the EP itself, but I will come forth with a name when I can think of one suitable enough to use. I will post the drafts up here and a Myspace should follow when I can put it onto a CD.

Thanks,
Mike, Idiom
